Jide Awe
Jide Awe is a speaker, writer, entrepreneur and public policy consultant in the Information and communication technology (ICT) arena. He has extensive experience and capacity in Human Capital Development, Tech Advocacy, Career Mentoring, Public Policy Consulting and ICT for

Development (ICT4D) Advisory.
An alumnus of Loughborough University in the East Midlands of England, he has worked in the Banking, Communications and Information Technology industries, delivering ICT Training, Consulting, Management and Web content provision services as an ICT professional, manager and entrepreneur with LM Ericsson, United Bank for Africa, Ecobank, CTB and Jidaw Systems Limited.
Jide played a pioneering role in local content provision on the web and is the founder of the forerunning website for tech development, Jidaw.com as well as other online initiatives promoting Digital development and tech innovation in Nigeria.
He developed national policies for Nigeria’s ICT4D Strategic Action Plan (2010-2015) working with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Jide was additionally a public policy and development advisory consultant involved in the development of ICT Policies for Osun and Niger States.
In line with his passion and vision, he co-founded the African Children Cyber Safety Initiative, (ACCSI), created the Women in ICT blog and presently leads New Tech Connection, a collaborative platform focused on leverage of digital technologies to achieve sustainable development.
Jide is a member of several professional organizations, including Nigerian Society of Engineers, Computer Professionals Registration Council (CPN) and Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the umbrella organization of all IT Professionals, Interest Groups and Stakeholders in Nigeria. A fellow of NCS, he was elected twice as Chairman, NCS Publicity and Events Committee in 2011 and 2013, and during his tenure he raised the profile of NCS through strategic stakeholder visits, media engagement, online publications and setting up the society’s social media platforms to comprehensively highlight and promote the activities of the society, while positioning NCS as the country’s premier ICT Advocacy body.
He was elected Chairman, NCS Conferences Committee in 2015 and re-elected in 2017; the committee is responsible for organizing Nigeria’s largest annual tech conference. In 2017, he was appointed member of the Public Relations and Corporate Affairs (PRCA) Committee of CPN.
He is widely published and speaks on a wide range of technology related issues. His articles have been published in national newspapers and magazines and international publications such as the CIPS IT Professional, the quarterly magazine of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS). Jide blogs and provides content through several online initiatives and is the author of the ICT4D Strategic Action Plan Implementation Status and Update publication, e-Nigeria from 2010 to 2014 publication, ICT4D Strategic Action Plan Implementation Status Update and other publications.
A key passion he demonstrates in all his activities is Career Consulting, Mentoring and Entrepreneurship Capacity Development for Young People. Jide has been Guest speaker at various national tech forums and events such as the national e-Nigeria conference presenting topics relating to ICT for development, career growth, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and innovation.
